<div class="section1"><div class="Normal">MOGA: A 10+2 student who mustered courage to raise cudgel against mass copying in her college is facing embarrassing situation as the college management is allegedly trying to dub her as mentally deranged.<br /><br />The management of Sant Baba Bhag Singh Memorial College for Girls at Sukhanand (Moga) allegedly jumped to this maligning campaign against Manjit Kaur, when her statement before the flying squad of Punjab School Education Board confirming mass copying in the college led to the cancellation of English subject paper held in the college on March 13, 2004.<br /><br />Though the college management committee claimed that the girl was mentally infirm and due to her mental state she made false statement before the flying squad members.
To buttress their claim, the management committee said that the girl had taken frequent leave from the college on this account during the last academic session.<br /><br />But in a complaint sent to chief minister, education minister and chairman PSEB, Manjit Kaur alleged that the management was trying to project her as mentally sick when she denied to succumb to pressure of the management to withdraw her statement made before the flying squad. She alleged that the college principal Sukhwinder Kaur Sandhu and vice chairman of management committee Makhan Singh had come to her house at Jharkharwala village and offered Rs one lakh if she desisted from her statement as the PSEB authorities had started the move to cancel the examination center in the college.<br /><br />It is also alleged in the complaint when she declined the offer the principal and the vice chairman threatened her with dire consequences.<br /><br />Manjit said that on March 13 she was very upset in the examination center as some college staff members were solving the question papers of some of their favourite students. And after some time when a flying squad team reached the college, the girl did not miss the opportunity to bring the matter to their notice and taking a serious view of the complaint the flying squad members inspected the center and allegedly found many objectionable things. As the copying was allegedly going on at mass level, so the flying squad team recommended cancellation of English subject paper.<br /><br />With this start the misery for the girl who was hurled with a number of threats. In her next paper, she demanded help from Bagha Purana police as management was allegedly threatening to teach her a lesson and two cops were provided to her when she went to college to take the next test. As the PSEB had taken the matter seriously and reportedly started the proceedings to cancel the center, the management started mounting pressure on the girl.<br /><br />The girl claimed that the management was trying to project her mentally sick taking benefit of her two-week leave in August last year when she was down with typhoid.<br /><br /><formid=367815></formid=367815></div> </div>
